I recently posted about Lamplighter books for kids, but couldn’t resist making a post for adults, too. All the books I mentioned are also very engaging for grown-ups. However, there are certain titles that are particularly for an older population, and they aren’t just good, they are necessary (in my humble opinion). Since I’ve already given an overview of Lamplighter, I will list some titles that have helped me grow in my relationship with the Lord and have stretched me in ways I may not have otherwise.

  • Families Where Grace is in Place by Jeff Van Vonderen
  • Passion and Purity by Elisabeth Elliot
  • Desiring God by John Piper

There are so many I believe I will eventually list here but haven’t been able to read yet. Mark Hamby always speaks of Amusing Ourselves to Death and Education of a Child: The Wisdom of Fenelon, and I have implemented much of the mentality from these books after listening to him discuss them. I want to purchase the Family Foundations Collection soon. Book club anyone?

I am not much of a fiction reader except when it comes to children’s historical fiction or the Lamplighter fiction books. I can finally say I have a favorite fiction author! Amy LeFeuvre! Her books are simply beautiful and inspiring! Here are some titles by her with a touch of romance and geared toward older females:

  • The Chateau by the Lake
  • On the Edge of a Moore
  • Treasure of the Secret Cove
  • Secret Bridge

Even if for some reason you just can’t get around to reading these four books, you can always gift them or decorate with them. Ha! They are seriously beautiful! (But read them! Some of them are available as an audiodrama, too.)
